DENGUE FEVER.

MINISTERIAL MOVEMENTS. THE RIFLE ASSOCIATION MEETING. DEFENCE MATERIEL. WELLINGTON, Feb. 25. A meeting of the Central Board oi Health, held to-day, to consider the necessity for quarantining vessels from.Fiji, in consequence of the prevalence of Dengue fever among the Islands, it was decided not to quarantine vessels, as the disease is peculiar to Polynesians., and is said not tc be contagious. The Premier will, however, consult Dr M'Gregor on the subieet. Sir Julius Yogel is expected 'to return tc "Wellington on Sunday, the Hon Mi Richardson to-morrow, the Hon Mr Ballance on Wednesday, and the Hon Mi Larnach on Sunday or Wednesday next. A full meeting of the Cabinet will be lield early next week. A meeting of the Executive Council was held yesterday, the Governor presiding The business was purely formal. The Premier will probably leave for Christchurch on Friday next, for the purpose oi being present at a meeting of the Synod oi the New Zealand University, which opens on March 3. Mr Stout will be unable to bt present at the opening, and he expects thai he will only bo able to attend for two oi three days. Sir Georgo Whitmore will probably be -present at the New Zealand Rifle Association's meeting at Wanganui. A lurga number of butts, required for the approaching encampments at Wanganui and Oamaru, have been received from London. The tenta have been on order over two years. Colonel Whitmore expects 1000 Volunteers will be under canvas at Wanganui, and 2000 at Oamaru. A quantity of material for Whitehead torpedoes, and a small consignment of small arm ammunition is on board the ship Invercargill, which is expected at Wellington daily. No information has been received respecting submarine requisites, and the great bulk of small arm ammunition despatches has been received ; that two 6-inch Armstrong guns and two 8- inch, intended for the New Zealand defences: have been delivered in London, and will shortly be shipped.
