RIFLE SHOOTING.

The fifth competition for the cup pre■sented by the President of tho Lincoln Club took place on Saturday last at 6 a.m. The advantage of tuch a. change was at once apparent, tho " early birds " heing favoured with a beautiful calm, seldom experienced upon tin* range in the latter part Of the day; consequently the shooting was good. Mr Howell, with 5G points, being top scorer. The sixth competition will take place on March 20, when . the highest aggregate scorer in the six matches will be declared the winner. As several of the scorers are now very near each, other . after five competitions, the " finish " should be a most exciting one.
