♦ The Firing Committee of the Canterbury Keaerve Corps have been fortunate in obtaining a good round sum for prize money for the first annual firing competition of the corps, which is to take place ■on Friday next A total amount of about j&K) has been subscribed, principally by -honorary members of the corps. There are to bo two matches— on o of 200, 300, 400, and 500 yards, five phots at each range ; and the other, a hau ■ licap, of 200, 300, and 400 yards, seven eh< ■■ * each range -Conveyances will leave C.vti'dral square •at half-past 10 in the morjuug to convey competitors to the range.
