Alarming Spread of Cholera.

ALEXANDRIA, July 20. The latest reports to hand from Cairo state that the cholera epidemic is spreading in the most alarming manner in that city. No less than 140 deaths have already occurred through the plague.

WELLINGTON, July 21. The 'Frisco Mail. The Botorua will leave Manakau by tomorrow morning's tide, and will call at New Plymouth. Unless the weather interferes, she will be here on Monday afternoon, in time to forward the Southern mails by the Te Anau. The Botorua does not call at Nelson.

DUNEDIN, July 21. A store in Heriot row, ocoupied by Mr Piokett, was burned down last night. It was insured in the Victoria office for £150. Nothing was saved. The fire was caused by the overturning of a kerosene lamp. The Equitable Investment Company have declared 10 per cent dividend for the halfyear. Alexander Aitken, four and a half years old, fell over a fence while playing, and sustained injuries, from whioh he died yesterday. George Barnes, owner of the house burnt, had a polioy for £150 in the National office.

INVEBOABGILL, July 21. On Thursday last the infant eon of James M'Millan, South Invercargill, waß left in charge of a sister, aged twelve. Tho girl lifted a pot of water off the iire, and when her back was turned her brother fell in, and was so severely scalded that he died this morning. ______________________
