June 14. An important case was partly heard to-day in fche District Courfc. Moir v Thomas Henderson, jun. The plaintiff is 'a merchant at Christohurch, anr^ tt.u defendant is a merchant afc Aucklar,'. Tho latter is the owner of the schooner Y/avo of Lifo, and tho action was taken to recwer £100 for damages to cargo of grain shipped by plainfc ; ff afc Chriatchuroh for Auckland. Tho declarations alleged that the vessel was owned by and belonged to defondant. Tho defence denied tho ownership and said the damage was causod by the perils of tho sea. David Gouke, a shipbuilder, gave rather a Btrange account of the vessel's fifcneßS to carry " dry cargo." The further hearing was adjourned to next court, on Monday.
