SYDENHAM BOROUGH SCHOOL.
The Committee of tbia school met on Friday, June 13, afc 7 p.m.; preaenfc— The Rev. Mr Cocks, Meserß Allison, Denham, Forrester, Dalfcry, Andrew, and fche Chairman (Mr J. Joyce). v - Several applications for the position of second master were read and considered.
On the motion of the Roy. Mr Cocks, seconded by J*£r Allison, Air A. Binnev was appointed.
The erection of out-buildings was nexfc considered, and was left to the Chairman, and Messrs Allison and Andrew to arrange with fche architect aa earlj as possible. ■ Mr Andrew then called the Committee'a attention to. the fact thafc for some time the school buildings had nofc beon insured against loss by fire, and moved tbe following resolution, whiob. waß carried unanimously : — " Thafc this Committee desire to call the Board's. attention to the fact fchafc the school buildings erected at a cost of aboufc £5000 have nofc forborne' time pasfc been insured against any loss by. fire, and would urge the Board to provide a sum to cover fche cost of insurance as aoon as possible." Tho Rev "Mr Cocks intimated to tho Com-, mittee that he wished to open a nighfc school for young men during tho winter months in fcho School, and requested fchafc members of tbo^ Committee would aid him in the work, which they promised to do. Mr Andrew also suggested that a series of entertainments should be got up by tho teachers and elder acholara of the achool during the winter months, which might consist'of readings, recitation?, vocal and instrumental mußic, &c. The' Committee agreed to leave this question in the hands of the Chairman and Mr Androw, to make enquiries, and arrange against the nexfc meeting. The meeting then adjourned.
