PRESENTATION.
Yesterday afternoon a few frienda of Mr J. 0. Boddington, manager -of tho J'Jank of New Zealand in Lyttelton, met t>t tho Colonists' Hall, for tho purpoeo of presenting
him with a token of their esteem on the occasion of his removal £g?m Lyttelton, The consisted of * ( wy -massive blfck $*Me clg*rl|iving3i tfeUb'le&l.ari. tfjfc ai calendar, which also, shows the -phases, oi the moon. -
j The presentation was made by Mr H. R. Webb, who said thafc several of Mr Boddington's friends had been anxious that he Bhould not leave the Port without Borne acknowledgment of the reapecfc in which he was held by them. They parted with him with muoh regret, as he had always been foremost; in promoting social matters in the town. Mr Webb referred to the great interest shown by Mr Boddington in connection with the Regatta and the Colonists' Society, besides other sooial matters of a more private nature. He felfc certain that he waa only speaking fche thoughts of those present when he Baid that their besfc wishes for his future success would follow him wherever he went, and he trUsted that whenever he looked at the face of the clock it would remind him of the facea of the friends he had made in Lyttelton. Mr Boddington, in replying, remarked thafc when he was asked fco meet a few friends fchafc afternoon he had no idea that it was for the purpose of receiving bo handsome a present. He. begged to return hia war-meet thanks for the handsome manner in which they had sho^ro their appreciation of bis services during his residence among them, and assured them that their gift would be very highly prized. It waa a matter of much congratulation to himself as occupying a public poaition to know that ho had gained the goodwill of bo many. There were a number of hia old frienda in the district to which he waß going, and ho should feel very proud indeed in being able to Bhow fche very handsome preaenfc he had received thafc day. Mr Boddington waa alao piesented with a handsome meerschaum pipe by fche clerks in the Bank at Lyttelton. The clock, which was procured from the establishment of Messrs B. Petersen and Co., Christchurch, boro the following inscription : " Lyttelton, June 13, 1879. Presented to J. 0. Boddington, Eaq., by a few friends, on his removal from fche Bank of New Zealand. Lyttelton, as a mark of fcheir esteem."
