<t> Nakeb, May 27, 7.2 p.m. There has been much southerly weather, and the pontoons were only shipped this morning. Meanwhile, Major Herriek arrived at Onipoto on the lake without meeting the enemy, but indications of their presence have been seen on the other side. By a telegram, late last night from Titiokura, a native report wasreceived, which states that Te "Waru had attacked Onepoto with 300 men, but that the settlement was prepared. Nelson, May 27, 6.20 p.m. On May 14th, a party of rebels evidently marauders sent to commit murders, was surprised near the White Cliffs. They decamped leaving their ammunition, &c, behind. Report Bays that the Mokau natives will fight the Europeans at the end of June, not before. Major Brown, M.H.R., meets his constituents on May 29.
