.*. CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. (Before 0. C. Bowen, Esq., R.M., and E. J. Wakefleld, Esq.) Stabbing. — Eliza Lambert was brought up on remand, charged with stabbing Edward McCormack. Inspector Pender applied for a further remand. The medical gentleman in attendance on McCormack at the Hospital said he would not be able to attend at the Police Court for a fortnight. His Worship remanded the prisoner for eight days, remarking that she would be brought up sooner if McCormack was found to be in a position to undergo another examination at the Hospital. civil caßeß. Thomas Kneeshaw v. Alexander Ferguson.—Claim £21 11s 4d. Judgment was given, by default, for full amount and costs. C. Stewart, v. John Henry Caton and Willtam Wilson.— Claim £21. Mr "Win. Wilson appeared, and said he was convinced the money was justly due by the estate of Caton and Wilson. The plaintiff, he believed, had been employed by Caton as a cattle driver in the transaction whicli had previously come under the notice of the Court. If the Court ordered him to pay the money, he would do so. His Worship said he would take proof of the claim, in order to avoid any trouble in future, there being a second defendant. The plaintiff having proved his claim, his Worship entered up judgment by consent for the full amount. William and James McLadchlan v. William Ffitch. — Claim, £32 6s lOd, for threshing done. Defendant admitted the claim, but desired to know whom he was to pay the money to, as one of the brothers had become insolvent. His Worship directed the parties to go and see Mr Graham, the provi sional trustee. He would adjourn the case for eight days, and if a settlement were agreed to in the mean time, the parties need not attend. James Paton v. James Swift and Egerton Ninnis.— Claim, £31 is. Judgment by default. ' James Gilbert v. William Wilson — Claim, £37 8s 3d. Mr Joynt, for plaintiff, stated that a large set-off had been served by

the defendant,- and he had to apply for" 1 ah adjournment of the case. The defendant consented to this course. His Worship adjourned the case until the 2nd June.
