A dis« cusslon ensued, and it was rcsolrod to leave tho lottor in abcyanco for a week, in tho meantime, to H«k tho opinion of tho Hook and Ladder Hrigude on tho matter, A lottor from Mr W. Graham, accompanied with samples of stone, ottering to supply tho saino at i')u Od, <ts Cd, and 6s per oubio yard. On the motion of Councillor Allwrlght, seconded by Councillor Ealestioo, it was resolved that tenders bo invited for 100 yards groy stone motal. Tho roport of tho Inspector of Nuisances was read. Notlco had been served on wovcrul pcrrtonu. Attention was called to Mr Watorwovth'fl yard, and instructions requested. On referring to tho Act it was found that at present no proceedings could be taken, tho by-laws relative to nuisances* not having been patiscuY Councillor Ward gave notice of motion in tills mutter. Councillor Willcox morcd that it be with* drawn for two months, which was seconded by Councillor Allwright, put, and lost. Councillor Alwright moved that It be withdrawn for ono month, and that action bo then taken in tho matter, which was seconded by Councillor Wilcox, and carried. The reiolutlon tia amended was, " That the report aa received be adopted, and handed totbeaollbitor oa the basis of a draft bill. The Clerk was directed to give tho manager of tho New Zoaland Bank notice to alter the bunking account from Lyttelton Municipal Council to Lytteltoa Borough Corporation, On the motion of Councillor WH<wx, seconded by Councillor Balestioo, it was re* BolTod that the Mayor and Councillors England and Alwright sign cheques. Councillor -Chalmers moved the notice of motion in lite name— that a valuation of rateable property be made. Councillor Ward seconded the motion, which was carried. It was resolved to let tho "matter stand over until next meeting, for the Solicitor 1 * opinion to be taken. Mr Chalmers gave notice of motion to inquire into tho official service of the Council, and to naccrtain if any changes are necessary, Tho Council then adjourned.
