WEDDING BELLS
Arthur—Fenton ' A very pretty wedding of much local interest took place at St. John’s Anglican Church, on June 2nd, when Mary Emily, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs R. J. Fenton, of Papamoa, and James Benjamin, younger son of Mrs and the late Mr Arthur, of Invercargill, were joined together in holy matrimony, the Rev, Lea being the officiating Minister,
The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a beautiful deep cream silk velvet frock cut on slim fitting lines with a high cowl neCk and log-o’-mutton sleeves, very tight fitting from the elbow to the wrist, finished with a row of buttons, Her tulle veil, Which was embroidered with satin poppies, Was caught in place with a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of cream roses and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid’s duties were very successfully carried out by the bride’s sister, Miss Dorothy Fenton, who was dressed in flame silk velvet, fashioned on similar lines to that of the bride. She carried a bouquet of flame coloured mina lobarta and autumn-tinted leaves and maidenhair fern.
Mr D, Neilson, of Te Puke, was best man.
After the ceremony the guests made their way to the Parish Hall where a sumptuous wedding breakfast was partaken of. The usual toasts were proposed and the bride cut the wedding cake. . ,
The bride’s mother received the guests, dressed in a brick coloured frock with the usual accessories and posy to match. Unfortunately the 'bridegroom’s mother was unable to attend her son’s wedding. The young couple left for their honeymoon on a tour of the North, the bride travelling in a navy blue costume with accessories to match. The happy young couple were the recipients of many beautiful and useful presents, besides a number of cheques. The church, with its beautiful decorations, toned in tastefully with the bride and bridesmaid’s lovely frocks. The decorations were carried out by relatives of the bride,
