Te Puke Ward’s Meet
, Good conditions prevailed for the Hunt Club’s meet on Wednesday, there being a large number of riders and followers. The course was over the properties of Messrs F, Donovan, J. Witherow, C. Whitehead, N. McDonald, A- Baker and R. Patterson, No. 3 Road. Several hares were raised on the outward and inward rung, a kill being registered, the quarry leading the pack a merry chase for about 30 minutes.
About three p.m. the riders and followers assembled at Mr A. M. Fagan’s residence where they partook of afternoon tea. Mr D. S. ~ Neilson expressed the Club’s thanks to Mr and Mrs Fagan for their generosity in again throwing open their home for afternoon tea. Among the followers were : Mrs Griffen, on Huia : Mrs S. GoreSymes on Duke, Miss N. Conway on Highway, Miss J. Blaker on Sometimes. The Master (Mr I. Vercoe) on Screamer, the huntsman (Mr T. Fenton) on Paddy, the whip (Mr H. Mohr) on Highday, Mr T. Ball on a black, Master H. Fenton on Nigger, Messrs D. Neilson on Ginger, G. Perkins on White wings, W. Conway on Venus, W. Bennett on Rex, W. Pile on Willie Ray, K. Kelly on Simeon, J. Fagan on 0.K., P. Fagan on Jahrdu, W. Matthews on Rajah, J. Evans on Cromwell, C. Evans on Smoky, G. Hichens on Shirley Temple, J. Digby Smith on Grey Lady, B. Maddigan on Peter, G.
