Town Baths
To Open on Labour Day At the meeting of the Town Board last night the Clerk pointed out that the-time ior opening the Baths was approaching and it' would be necessary to make the usual arrangements. Last year the expenses totaled £lO5 and the revenue £53 7s 6d. The sum of £lO had been received from the Swimming Club for painting the baths and a further sum of £3O. thus leaving a deficit of £ll 12s 6d. Mr Persey stated that he anticipated that the carnivals would be even more successful than the last year. It was understood that Mr Bridson, New Zealand’s champion swimmer would be visiting Te Puke each month and would be prepared to give exhib itions.
On the motion of Mr Butcher it was decided that the Baths be opened on Labour Day,
The fixing of the charges was left*to the Baths Committee to report on at the next meetiug of the Board.
