Concert at Paengaroa

The Lion Tamer and World’s Worst Wizards and members of their concert party were accorded a great reception by the residents of Paengaroa and surrounding districts who filled the local hall on Friday evening. These remarks were met with enthusiastic applause. The programme commenced with Community Singing under the inspiring leadership of Mr Wilkie. At the conclusion of the concert supper and dancing terminated a most enjoyable evening.

At a late hour a visitor from Wanganui arrived at the house in Nelson where he was staying, after spending the evening elsewhere. He was wearing rubbersoled shoes, and his foot-steps made little noise. As he reached the house he took his handkerchief from his pocket and was holding it to his nose when his host appeared at the front door. The latter had heard the quiet step of the approaching man, and his first thought—that the house was being visited by a burglar—was confirmed in his own mind by the fact that the man appeared to be trying to oonceal t|is face with a handkerchief. He promptly suited action to the thought, and, before recognising hH guest, had stretched him on the verandah under the force of a power* fully delivered and well-directed blow to the faee, Woods’ Peppermint Cura For Coughs and Colds
