MINISTER AT TE AROHA.
MR. LANGSTONE’S MEETING. CONFISCATION OF LAND. DENIAL GIVEN BY SPEAKER,
[Special to "Star”] TE AROHA, Sept. 30. Mr. F. Langstone, Minister for Lands, addrsesed an audience of 700 at the Majestic Theatre last night. The deputy-Mayor, Mr. G. Hedge, presided. The address was on the same lines as that broadcast from Te Awamutu.
The speaker said a widely-spread statement that the Labour Government intended to confiscate land was the "greatest lyunkuin” ever circulated throughout the country. Several questions on the land policy were answered satisfactorily.
In reply to a question, "Will the Government socialise land?” the Minister said it would cost too much.
A vote of thanks to the speaker and confidence in Mr. Savage as Prime Minister and in Mr. J. Thorn as the member for Thames, was carried with acclamation.
