CARS CONVERTED. ONE GOES INTO DITCH. ACCUSED FOR SENTENCE. [By Telegraph.—Press Association] AUCKLAND, April 13. Seven charges arising out of esca pades during March were admitted in the- Police Court by Kenneth William Mailman, labourer, aged 25, who appeared before Messrs. D. Donaldson and A. L. Gee, J.P.’s, Mailman was committed to tlie Supreme- Court for sentence. Statements made by accused to de-
tectives told how he took a car out. of a private garage in Mt. Albert and drove to llelcnsville on March 26. There lie entered a garage workshop and stole 2/- in stamps and a Hacksaw, entered a stationery shop, blit stole nothing, and attempted to enter u grocery shop.
.Mailman said that when he ran the car into a ditch and it stopped he abandoned it and took another, driving to the waterfront road ;TT Orakei.
Detective L. Wilson said he arrested accused in a second-hand shop at Avondale on March 29. Tv lien he attempted to sell a quantity of tools which he said lie had stolen from a Public Works motor friicln He also admitted pawning for- (>/-: -a:-watch taken from the cab of 1 lie truck, and obtaining loans amounting to £2/5/on rings stolen from the home of a former employer at lleleiisville on March 9. All the property was recovered.
