MOTOR INSURANCE.

THIRD PARTY RISKS. INCREASE IN PREMIUMS. UNPROFITABLE BUSINESS. [By Telegraph.—Press Association] WELLINGTON, March 25. Motorists' third party insurance premiums will shortly become due on the occasion of the annual relicensing and it is certain there will be increases in most classes of policy. Last year private car owners avlio had formerly paid £1 were given a concession of 2/6, but whether this low rato will be maintained is doubtful.

The claims experience of all underwriters during the year has been dofinitly adverse. Their results with motor insurance have been generally unprofitable, as claims, in proportion to premiums, have increased from 50 per cent, in 1933 to over 80 per cent., according to the last available figures.
