WANDERING STOCK.
NUISANCE TO MOTORISTS. ONE CAR WRECKED. SOME ANIMALS STRUCK. Ll3y leiegrapu. —Press Association] PALMEKSTOJN N., Feb. 18. A complaint about the number oi wandering stock on the road at night was made at a meeting of the Auto> mobile Association (Manawatu). It wan stated that on Sunday night a motorist had collided with a horse neai Himatangi and was now in hospital, while the horse had been killed and the motor-car completely wrecked. The same night at Tiakitahuna another driver had struck a steer. Thesq were not the only animals on the road, other cows and horses being seen. Members mentioned that rcprsentations had been made to the authorities to have the law amended so that the fact that an animal was on the road would be prima facie evidence of negligence on the part of the owner, but this had been done without success. It was decided to bring the mattei under the notice of the North Island Motor Union and the Manawatu County Council.
