WEST DRAINAGE BOARD. MONTHLY MEETING HELD. The Hauraki Plains West Drainago Board met at Ngatea on Wednesday last, when Mr. C. W. Parfitt (chairman) presided over Messrs. T. A. McClean, J. Pagan, J. Donaghy and A. H. McClean.
Permission was granted to the N.Z. Dairy Co. to put a pipe through tho stopbank in connection with the new cheese factory at Ngatea upon certain conditions being complied with. Four permits Id put in pipe culverts were granted to settlers in the Ngatea and Pipiroa areas.
A settler in the Waitakaruru area was requested to fence his boundary drain to protect the drain banks from stock. Application was made to the Labour Department for an extension of time and an additional amount of subsidy to complete works in the llopai area. Accounts to the amount of £49/10/9, were passed for payment. LODGE DANCE. ; SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. The Loyal Ngatea Lodge of Oddfellows, Manchester Unity" held a successful dance in the Hall on Wednesday evening. In spite of the inclement weather, about 80 couples assembled. Cards were provided for non-dancers. ■ The Melody Makers Orchestra provided the music, and Mr. J. W. Ncate •was M.C. Monte Carlos were won by Mr. "Buster" Ncate and Miss Alma Lang, and Mr. Ceo. Courtney and Miss E. Ward. The 500 card prizes went to Mrs. Johansen and Mr. J. Paino.
