STRUCK BY TRAIN.

BUS DAMAGED. PASSENGER THROWN TO ROAD. REMARKABLE ESCAPE. [By Telegraph. — fress A-soclation] AUCKLAND, Dec. 13.

Passengers on a suburban bus had a remarkable escape when the vehicle was struck by a shunting train at a

level crossing at Te Papaya, near Auckland, early this afternoon.

The train, which was travelling from Onehunga to Penrose, tore, the uack of the bus away. ‘

One mate passenger on the rear seat was thrown to the road and suffered facial injuries, but declined to go to hospital. The other passengers'were severely shaken. The bus driver, Mr. J. Maiden, was able .to resume driving shortly after the accident. The trrTin, driven by Air. Heaps, was not damaged, and after the wreckage was removed continued on its way.
