—— * AN ILLEGAL LOTTERY. MAGISTRATE DISMISSES CHARGE (By Telegraph—Press Association). GISBORNE, Jan. 31. Holding that a lottery had been proved in connection with a competition conducted by the Gisborne military band, but that the offences disclosed" were trivial, Mr. Walton, S.M., this morning- dismissed, under Section 92 of the Justices of the Peace Act, informations charging officers of the band with offences under the Gaming Act.
