MERCURY BAY PERSONALS.
Rumour has it that the County Council intends to shortly proceed with the dismantling of the old wharf as far as the pig pens. The outer end is in a very dilapidated and unsafe condition, and is at present costing 12/6 per week for lighting and cleaning. Mr D. Hamilton and Miss I. Hamilton have returned from Auckland, where they have been spending a week. Mr R. Middlemass has made a rapid recovery from his severe illness and was able to attend the football on Saturday for a short time. Mrs Hamlin has arrived at Mercury Bay from Sydney to join her husband on their Island, Dar-es-Salaam. Mr E. Sellars is still away in Auckland and Mr M. Hanno is carrying on the duties of ferryman and wharfinger' in his absence. Mrs James Hamilton was taken seriously ill on Tuesday last, Dr Hinds going to Whenuakite to attend her. She is now progressing favourably.
