A match payed between the “Mollyhawks" and the “Sparrowhawks” hockey teams took place on the 2Sth.
IVlollyhawks were represented by: D. Webb, W. O’Meara, R. Clark, L. Wymer, I. Lumberg, F. Sanderson, A. Barrett (capt), S. McNeil, J. Davies, L. McQuoid’ Sparrowhawks by: C. Norman, F. Ngapo, G. McNeil, T. Barrett (capt.), T. Proctor, R. Hohne, C. Wells, J. Truelove, D. Horne, M. Wilson.
The game ended: Molly hawks 5, Sparrowhawks 3. For Mollylmwks A. Barrett was outstanding and scored four goals, S. McNeil scoring the fifth. For Sparrowhawks J. Truelove scored two goals and C. Wells one. Considerable interest was taken in the game. S. Proctor, S. McNeil and L. McQuoid, new players, showed great aptitude and
are the makings of good players. Competitions are starting shortly and for 'which trophies are being obtained. Miss P. Shannon was referee and controlled the game in a very able manner. ,A Ladies’ Match.
The ladies played a Possibles v. Probables match, with a view to picking a representative team for the Mercury Bay match, which is to be played at the Bay on June 4.
The game ended, Possibles 5, Probables 2. Misses I. McNeil, Nixon, Truelove, Potae, Barrett, Scott and Ngamura gave an exhibition of excellent hockey, and much improved form. With a little coaching the ladies will make a name for themselves as hockey players.
A match will bo played by the combined men’s teams as a curtain-raiser to the Coromandel-Mercury Bay football match on June 3, King’s Birthday, starting at 1.30 p.m.
