RALLY AT TURUA.
BIG ATTENDANCE PRESENT. YOUNG PEOPLE’S COUNCIL. Over seventy young folks from. Thames and Turua gathered at the quarterly rally of the Young People’s Christian Council, which was held in the Turua Hall last evening. As always, the spirit of the meeting was of the After a good sing, Mr Dorian, of Ngatea, gave an' inspiring message, which was one designed to appeal to the highest and best ambitions in his audience. It was a call to be heroes and heroines in following the greatest Hero, Jesus Christ. It is natural to respond to such a theme, and never, perhaps, was “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross” sung by youthful spirits more sincerely. That the primary purpose of the Council, that of uniting the many separate youth organisations in the district into one strong hand, might be accomplished, a bright social entertainment followed the devotional meeting. With Mr West, of Turua, directing proceedings, and Mr Dailey and Mr Dorian adding to the enpoyment with musical and elocutionary items, a pleasant evening soon passed, terminated by a splendid supper, and, for the Thames folk, a cheery drive home.
