The Oamaru Tragedy.
THREE YOUNG MEN ARRESTED.
(Per Press Association.) OAMARU, April 18. At tEe inquest on the death of the Austrian, Peter Cartridge, several: witnesses refused to give evidence on the ground that it might incriminate them.: The medical evidence wa« that death' was due to slight con■oussion of the brain and great loss of l blood from the wound above the eye, which must have been caused by a blow from a stone weighing not less than two pounds. It was said the deceased had thrown; stonesi at the young men, and they retaliated. One of the witnesses, who lives close to where the fatality occurred, heard a groan, and at the same/timo heard footsteps as,,if several persons were running away from the spot: The deceased lay on the' road till he was picked up by a young man named Minty. After the medical evidence three young men were arrested and charged with murder.
