CELEBRATED IN AUCKLAND.
PUBLIC MEN CALL ON THE CONSUL.
AN ADDRESS DELIVERED.

Auckland, July 4
The Stars and Stripes waved from J the top of most of the principal build ings in and around Auckland to-day in honor ot the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence by the United States. . Quite a stream of visitors paid their coogratulasions to the United States Consul, including the Mayor and other prominent public men. To-night a public meeting at the Opera House was largely attended, when an address was presented to the United States Consul and speeches of a patriotic and fraternal character were delivered. The proceedings were of a most enthusiastic nature.
