FIFTEEN LIVES LOST.

(Per Press Association.) .London, April 20,

The barque Firth of Solway, bound from Glasgow to Dunedin, collided with a steamer near Grenock and sank Thirteen of the crew, and the captains's wife and child were drowned. The captain and eight others were saved.

[The Firth of Solway, Capt,. E..R. Kenrick, was one of J. Spencer and Co.'b well known Firth line of Glasgow. She was, comparatively speaking, a new. boat, having been built in 1885 by W. B. Thompson, of Glasgow. The barque was.au iron vessel of the following dimensions : Length, 228.4 feet; breadth, 13,85 feet; depth, 21.0 feet, and tonnage 1313.]
