THE N.Z. RUGBY UNION REPORT.
Wellington, April 13. The annual report of the New Zealand Rugby Union, which will be submitted to the annual meeting on the 24th inst., refers to the exceptionally interesting series of inter-union matches which were played last season. Pleasure is expressed at. the spread of the Referees' Association instituted by the Union, and thanks rre cor> veyed to the Premie^ for passing the Unclassified Societies' Registration Act ! through Parliament, arid to Mr Bell M.H.R., for drafting the measure. Reference is made to the visit of the Queensland team this season, also that the Committee has under consideration the new rules adopted by the English Union with regard to professionalism. Mr Hoben's departure is characterised as a loss to Rugby football in the colony. The Union has cleared off all its indebtedness with the exception of .£37 due to the New South Wales Union, and which it was expected that Union would have remitted.
