CHAMBER OF MINES.

A meeting for the purpose of forming a "Chamber of Mines" is convenedfoi Thursday afternoon, in the New Zealand Insurance Buildings, Auckland.

VICTOR. Shares in this mine were again in brisk demand yesterday, owing to the fact that the floating on the Home market is understood to be all but accomplished. Upon inquiry at the office of "the company to-day (says the Star) the information was obtained that no official intimation had been received by cable j from Home announcing the definite j floating of this company on the London market. We are, however, in a position to state that a private cable was received stating that the underwriting of the new company was nearly completed.

WAITEKAURI SOUTH, All the syndicate shares in this licensed holding were taken up in Auckland before 9 o'clock yesterday morning, and by noon the shares were changing hands at a £10 premium, while later in the day even higher prices were offered.

BLAGROVE'S FKEEHOLD. We learn f rom Captain Argali that the whole of the machinery which was received from England by. the cargo steamer Mamari is now on the site, and it will be erected within a fortnight or to. When this is accomplished operations in the mine, which have been suspended pending the arrival of the machinery owing to an inflow of water into the new" engine shaft, will be vigorously resumed.
