(Pbbss association.) Ohbistcinjiicb:, This day. A fire broke out last night in the dwelling of F. O. Kalph, and before the flames were got under the place was completely gutted. Nothing was saved, and a number of valuable, pictures were destroyed. The family escaped ,in their night dresses, but' the servant girl, who was sleeping in the western side of the house, did not wake. An alarm was raised, and a ladder procured, and Mr McLean > of the Press office, entered the burning building through, the window. He found the girl lying on the floor partly stupefied with smoke. McLean succeeded in getting her out, and in doing so. both fell on an iron leau-to, in which the fire was burning. The girl remained on the roof, but McLean rolled off on to the asphalt path, and was not hurt. The girl was severely burned lying on tho hot roof without clothes. Medical assistance wan procured. In the doctor's opinion she cannot survive, as all her skin is burnt off.

The insurance is £1,200 in the Standard, £500 of which is r6-inaured in the Union.

. While this fire was in full blaze another fire broke out at Collier's a&rated wate* factory, which wa.s totally destroyed, Later. The girl Blakemore burned in the fire last night died from her injuries this morning. , The insurance was £450 on the building, £500 on the furniture, £55 on the piano, and £25 on the Bhed; total t £1040 in the Standard office. Of this amount one-third is reinsured. Under one-third is in tb.6 National, and there is also a special line of £500 iv the' Standard office on sight valuable oil paint»Jg«;
