NELSON.

Monday. The football match with the Auckland team commenced at 2.5 p.m. The weather was lovely. Nelson kicked off, and in two minutes obtained a touch-down; since then the game was very even, and no alteration upon goals being exchanged at 2.35. At 2.40 Nelson obtained a forcedown, and one minute later another. Nothing more done till goals were again changed at 3.5. The game terminated at four, when Nelson had secured six and a-half points, and Auckland half-a-point. Towards the close of the game, Nelson carried the ball down to the Auckland goal with a fine rush, and scored three and a-half points in four minutes. Both sides were heartily cheered by the spectators. The two .teams are now dining together, and the Aucklanders leave for the North at seven. It was a well contested game. The Auckland team is heavier than the Nelson one.
