Missing Farmer No trace has yet been found of Mr Edward Smith who has been missing from his home in Haka Valley since Thursday last. The search is being continued by small parties over an extensive area. Fall From Horse While riding a young horse at Straun, Haka Valley, Mrs A. Bishop was thrown heavily when a stirrup leather broke. Mrs Bishop suffered a broken collarbone, fractured ribs and internal injuries and was removed to the Waimate Hospital by ambulance. Measles Epidemic It has been found necessary to close the Kurow D.H.S., Haka Valley, Cattle Creek and Hakataramea Schools tor the year owing to the prevalence of measles and mumps. Adults as well as children have been affected and attendances reduced almost to nil in some schools.
