SUMMER SHOW
Timaru Horticultural Society High Standard Attained Although entries were small because of the unsettled weather of the last week or so, exhibits were of a high standard, particularly the roses, at the summer show of the Timaru Horticultural Society, held at Caroline Bay Hall yesterday afternoon. This was the first summer show for three years and the stalls attracted many enthusiastic horticulturists.
The champion bloom of the show’ was a McGredy’s Yellow rose, exhibited by Mr J. Rennie. The Cut Flower Cup was won by the Society’s president (Mr D. B. Shand), who also won the Edgar Jones Cup for decorative roses. Mrs H. Barker won the Elworthy Cup for roses. A special stand of cut flowers and shrubs exhibited by the Timaru Borough Council’s Reserves Department won special admiration and was up to the usual high standard exhibited by the Council in past years.
