PLUNKET SOCIETY
TIMARU BRANCH At the monthly meeting of the Timaru branch of the Plunket Society the president (Mrs A. B. Herdman) and 15 members were present. The nurses’ report stated that there had been 29 new cases for the month. A letter was received from the Mt. Cook Company enclosing two free tickets to Queenstown. The committee accepted the gift with thanks. The report of the recent “cinema evening” was presented, and though all the returns were not in it is hoped the net proceeds will be about £l5. The committee expressed its thanks to Mr H. J. Kennedy, the manager of the Majestic Theatre. It was decided to send a letter of sympathy to Mrs T. W. Satterthwaite who is at present laid aside by illness. The question of Rose Day was discussed and the fact of the R.S.A. wanting a street day about the same time. It was decided that the Society should adhere to the date granted. November 23, and that the secretary should advise the Council through the Mayor, to this effect. Preliminary arrangements were made for Rose Day and it was hoped that all members would help with the work stall by bringing at least two garments each.
