SECOND DAY PROGRAMME CITIZENS’ THANKSGIVING SERVICE Caroline Bay Soundshell at 10 a.m. Everybody invited. GRAND VICTORY PROCESSION Assembles at North Street, Woollcombe Street and Stafford Street at 2 p.m. AU organisations, business houses, sports bodies, general public and school children invited to cooperate to make this an outstanding success. POSITIONS AND ORDER OF PARADE (All Walking Sections will proceed six abreast) STAFFORD ST. (South of Woollcombe St) R.S.A. (Note: Returned Servicemen and Servicewomen in uniform are specially invited to parade). WOOLLCOMBE ST. (3 columns)— North: Timaru Municipal Band; Primary Schools, headed by own Bands (in order of arrival) to Latter St. Centre: Primary Schools, headed byown Bands (in order of arrival) to Latter St. South: Harmonica Band; Secondary Schools (in order of arrival). NORTH ST.— North Side: Timaru Pipe Band. North and South Side to Latter St. and using Barnard St. (in order of arrival): ALL organisations (e.g., St. John Ambulance, Red Cross, Nurses, W.W.S.A., Home Guard, Homeservicemen, E.P.S., Combined Sports Bodies, etc., etc., as well as bands of citizens celebrating as individuals or groups).
NORTH ST.— North and South Sides, west of Latter St.: ALL Floats, Decorated Vehicles, Concert Parties in Lorries, Trade and Business Exhibits, etc., etc. Full of FUN, FROLIC and NOISE. PROCESSION MOVES OFF SHARP AT 2.30 p.m. ROUTE OF PROCESSION It is hoped that everyone who possibly can will contribute to this Grand Victory Procession and make it the Biggest and Brightest ever. Proceed along Stafford St., Canon St., Sophia St., to T.B.C. (all marching sections will be formed up). Savage Club Mock Court, Community Singing, Impromptu Concerts, Open Air Dancing. Vehicles are asked to file into Sophia and Perth Streets. At the conclusion of the address, community sing etc., the children will be marched down George St., up Stafford St. (north), being split into threes on each side of the route, and all those wishing to continue the procession to enable the children to view same are asked to proceed through Latter St., Woollcombe St., Stafford St., dispersing at Church St., Canon St. and Sefton St. TORCHLIGHT PROCESSION LEAVING KING GEORGE'S PLACE AT 7.30 p.m. ■ The Timaru Municipal Band (Gould and Co.’s Buildings), Torch Bearers, Citizens, Groups, etc., to follow. Vehicles to come in from any Side Streets and move in only after all walking sections are under way. BONFIRE AT BAY Proceed to Caroline Bay where Mayor will light the Bonfire at 8 p.m. Pipe Band will supply music on BAY HILL, outside Hydro, from 7 pan. till Procession arrives.
