Church Services will be held at 7 p.m., to be followed by short Civic Function and Community Sing in Town Hall at 8 p.m., followed immediately at 9.45 p.m. by a Community Social and Dance. Plain and fancy dress and mad hats. If the news comes before Noon, a short Service will be held at the War Memorial at 2 p.m. as well. SECOND DAY: Fancy Dress Procession leaves Mole’s at 1.30 p.m. All invited to join with floats and decorated cars, decorated cycles, prams, etc. Younger children (fancy dress, if possible) join at Bank of New Zealand. Procession proceeds to Secondary School Grounds for Victory Sports and Carnival, including Baby Show. Afternoon tea (Ladies please bring baskets). 7 p.m.—Dark Town Fire Brigade, Torchlight Procession and Bonfire. Bring your own torches. Assemble Fire Station. 8 p.m.—Victory Ball in Town Hall.
