GERALDINE SOCIAL CLUB
Presentation Made
The Second N.Z.E.F. Social Club entertained Mr W. McCullough at a social on the occasion of his approaching marriage. Mr H. Waller, in making a presentation of a set of carvers to the guest, referred to the good work he had done for the club and his interest in R.S.A. During the evening musical items were contributed by Messrs C. Gimson, L. Young, Nelson brothers, M. Evans, and J. Coulter. Community singing, led by Mr C. Gimson and accompanied by Mr J. Coulter, was also enjoyed. Personal Mr and Mrs P. H. Davis, Cox Street, are spending a few days at Rangitata. Mr and Mrs L. A. Mason, TalbOo Street, have returned from their holiday. Presentation The members of the Geraldine Women’s Institute and the Geraldine Library Committee combined to entertain Mr and Mrs G. B. Couch on the occasion of their departure from Geraldine. Both Mr and Mrs Couch have been active workers on both committees, Mrs Couch being president of the Women’s Institute. Mr E. N. J. Hannah, on behalf of the Library Committee, made reference to the good work performed by the departing guests and wished them every success in their new home at South Brighton. Mrs F. W. Grayburn and other members of the Women’s Institute spoke of Mrs Couch’s active interest in the work of the institute, and all remarked how much she would be missed. Mrs Grayburn then presented Mrs Couch with a spray of flowers and Mr Couch with a buttonhole accompanied with the good wishes of all their friends. The evening was spent in games and competitions, and at intervals items were given by Miss Mary Rowe, Miss Vera Dean, and Mr and Mrs Couch. A talk was given by Lieutenant Denvir of his experiences with the Yugoslav Army. _______
