STRUCK BY HAMMER

Injuries Prove Fatal (P.A.) DUNEDIN, February 22. While acting as an official at the Otago athletic championships at the Caledonian Ground op Saturday, Mr Charles W. Frye was struck with the hammer thrown by a competitor in the hammer-throwing event. Mr Frye was admitted to hospital with severe face and head injuries and died at 11.50 p.m. Deceased formerly was a prominent cross-country runner and won the New Zealand title in 1920.
