ALIEN FINED
Illegal Possession Of Motor-cycle (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH. Feb. 21. Charged before Mr W. H. Woodward, S.M., with a breach of the Aliens Registration Regulations by being in possession of a motor-cycle without the written permission of the registration officer at New Plymouth, Otto Charles Lundt was fined £l5. Senior-Detective Jarrold said defendant was a native of Denmark. He had been registered since the outbreak of war. On January 2 he was seen to be riding a motor-cycle and when interviewed said his father-in-law was ill and he had ridden to a chemist’s shop to obtain a plaster for him. That storv had been found correct. Defendant said he would so the same again in similar circumstances. Defendant said it was near to the closing time for chemists’ shops, and he could not have got there in time by any other means. The Magistrate: But there are telephones and taxis. Detective Jarrold: He also had an ordinary bicycle.
