RUSSIA’S FIGHT
PLEDGE OF SUPPORT (P.A.) DUNEDIN, Sept. 8. An enthusiastic gathering of about 2000 persons in the Town Hall to-night paid a tribute to the magnificent defence being put up by the Russians and pledged wholehearted support to the policy of giving every assistai to the Soviet in the fight against the common enemy. The meeting was held by the Dunedin branch of the New Zealand Society for Closer Relations with Russia. The Mayor (Mr A. H. Allen) presided and the speakers were Mr H. Atmore, M.P., and Mr J. Robots, of Christchurch. Resolutions were carried conveying greetings to the people of Russia from the citizens of Dunedin and urging the Government to afford all possible assistance to the Soviet.
