GRAPHIC FILMS

Nazi Ruthlessness In Russia RUGBY. Sept. 6 Graphic films of the war on the Russian front, taken by German cameramen and intended by Goebbels for foreign propaganda purpose, are to be shown at once in British news reels. They have been captured from the enemy and the Ministry of Information has lost no time in making use of them.

They are realistic but are cleverly faked to exhibit only German might and ruthlessness. One sees great panzer units moving at speed across the vast plains of Western Russia ami.’ scenes of destruction and isolation. German guns systematically destroy bridges, roads and farmhouses; huge buildings in large towns crash under the bombs of raiding aeroplanes, and divebombers are seen destroying masses of Russian aeroplanes on aerodromes. It is an imnressive record of the ruthlessness, slaughter and mass destruction inflicted on a nation invaded without warning, but the 'effect is lessened by the complete absence of any signs of German casualties or losses arising from Russian retaliation. The versions prepared for exhibition on British screens are shown to the accompaniment of a running commentary emphasising the urgent need for all to exert themselves to the utmost to smash the Nazi terror.
