CALEDONIAN SOCIETY / The fifty-third annual meeting of the St. Andrews Caledonian Society was held in the hall. Before commencing the business, the president, Mr R. W. Munro, referred to the deaths of Mr E. Dash, a past president, and Mr J. Kane, a very enthusiastic member. Motions of sympathy were passed with the respective families. The balance-sheet presented by the secretary, Mr P. O’Loughlin, showed a small credit balance and in movihg its adoption the president congratulated the Society on the year’s working. He also extended thanks to the ladies of the district, who so willingly gave their assistance throughout the year, also co all who had any way assisted the Society, including the hon. auditor, Mr J. Trimble. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr H. B. S. Johnstone; president, Mr R. W. Munro; vice-presidents: Messrs S. F. Hanson. A. Hutton, C. H. S. Johnstone, E. O. O’Loughlin; assistant secretary, Mr L. Edwards. It was unanimously decided to hold the sports this year, all profits to go to patriotic purposes. It was also agreed to run a tug-of-war in connection with the sports.
