LONDON. This Day. Reports of an alliance between Britain, United States and Thailand are completely denied in London. SHIPPING LOSSES LONDON, This Day. In the week ended November 10-11, 13 merchant vessels totalling 71,749 tons were lost. Ten were British, one allied and two neutral. The tonrage represents just about half the total the Germans claim to have sunk. “BADLY MAULED” LONDON, This Day. C nmenting on Mussolini’s apologetic speech, the “New York HeraldTribune” states: “No amount of oratory can hide the fact that Italy is at present being “badly mauled.” The “New York Times” suggests that the Axis needs oiling but the time is coming when questions the Italian people are asking about the war will have to be answered.
