New R.A.F. Commander
The Air Ministry announces the appointment of Air Chief Marshal Sir Arthur M. Longmore to succeed Air Chief Marshal Sir William G. S. Mitchell as Air Officer Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Air Force in the Middle East as from May 20. Sir Arthur Longmore, who was born in New South Wales in 1885, visited Australia and New Zealand in 1939 as a member of the British Air Mission.
Everyone should be provided with that sort of indulgence, and that readiness to listen, which makes the i thoughts of others bloom. It is a bad sort of cleverness which deprives the character of kindliness, indulgence, and sympathy, which makes it difficult I for us to live and talk with others, to make them pleased with us, and pleased with themselves—in a word, to love and be lovable.—Joubert.
