“MYSTERY MONEY”
FARM LABOURER’S HOARD Police are endeavouring to trace relatives of Walter William White, aged 69, a farm labourer, who was found dead on the floor of the living room in his little cottage at Newport. Isle of Wight. At first foul play was suspected, but this was ruled out when the police found there were no signs of a struggle. Searching the premises, they discovered a small fortune. Hidden away in bags and boxes were piles of coins and rolls of notes. A Post Office Savings Bank book revealed that the old man had a big balance there. How White came to amass such a large sum of money is a mystery, as he never worked as anything but a farm labourer. He’lived alone and allowed no one to enter the cottage.
