United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright (Received February 9, 11.55 p.m.) SUVA, February 9. The Legislative Council passed Bills imposing additional taxation to meet the defence expenditure. Income tax for individuals has been increased from 1/- to 1/3 and company tax from 1/to 1/6. Residential tax has been increased from £1 annually to £l/5/- and port and customs service tax on imports has been increased from 2 to 3 per cent. The increases are estimated to produce about £39,000.
