MASSEY COLLEGE BEATS AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY

By Telegraph —Press Association PALMERSTON N., July 13

In a Rugby match played at Palmerston North this afternoon. Massey College beat Auckland University College by 12 points to 3. The ground was heavy with the surface treacherous and the ball slippery, but the football was of an unexpectedly high standard. Massey College were superior in the first half, but in the second, during which each side scored a try, Auckland had a territorial advantage. For the winners McKee, Guild, Mitchell and Terry scored tries, while Drake scored for Varsity.

A curtain-raiser was provided by the Palmerston North High School and Wanganui Collegiate School. High School won by 12 points to nil. The winners held the upper hand during the greater part of the game.
