PARISH BAZAAR
OTIPUA-KENSINGTON The Otipua Hall presented a busy scene when the Otipua-Kensington Parish held its first sale of work since the formation of th: new parish. The various stalls were well patronised and the parish funds benefited considerably. The bazaar was opened by Rev. J. Hay (St. Andrews) who congratulated the parish on its splendid co-operation during the long absence of a permanent vicar. He had been pleased to help the parish during the vacancy as he was sure the Rev. Taylor had been. After wishing the parish every success under the new vicar. Mr Hay declared the bazaar open. Those in charge of stalls were:— Produce: Mesdames W. Black, Hall and Sollis, Messrs P. Coote and W. Black. Cake: Mesdames W. Butchers, P. Coote and Thornhill. Variety: Mesdames H. Caldwell. G. Hutton. Sweets: Mesdames H. B. Anderson, L. Mann, Miss R. Bee. Afternoon tea: Mesdames H. Arden, Gillett and Yardley. Ice cream: Misses A. Hawke, W. Ford. Bran dips: Miss E. Arden. General secretary, Mr G. P. Chapman. Winners of competitions were.— Cake (No. 1), Mrs Rupert Parry. Cake (No. 2), Misses D. Butchers and R. Bee equal 1. Cake (No. 3), Miss A. Gibson and J. Ford. Goose, Mrs Hall. Chocolates, Mrs H. Arden. Dinner, Mrs Mann. Tin biscuits, Miss R. Bee. Supper cloth, Miss H. J. Allan. Picture, Miss E. Arden. Chain stepping, Mrs Mcßride, Messrs G. Chapman, J. Mitchell (equal). Pig guessing. Miss E. Wilkins. Sheep guessing. M. G. Wilkins.
A dance was held at night, music being supplied by Mrs G. Hutton. Miss M. Walter, Mr W. Black, Mr W. H. Arden was M.C.
