CRYSTAL CLOCKS AND QUAINT CHARMS

JEWELLERY NOTIONS Here is the very latest thing in clocks—an exact copy of the Cullinan diamond, correct in size and cutting, made in rock crystal. The minute works gleam through the solid crystal, the whole thing being a master-piece of craftsmanship. I saw this in Bond Street (writes a London correspondent) among a great many other fascinating new pieces of jewellery. New evening watches for men are made of onyx. New cigarette cases, bearing designs of Chinese inspiration, are made in gold in three colours, yellow, pink and white. Pink gold was first introduced in the 17th century. But it became so like copper in appearance that there was a reversion to the present-day colour of yellow gold. Pink gold is also being used to-day for bracelets and for diamond clips. The craze for charm bracelets continues apace. Jewellers are producing new suggestions almost every day and say that there is likely to be a big demand for them. One of the latest suggestions for these miniature pieces of jewellery is “Heart under Pressure,”

which is in the form of a minute hand press holding down a coral heart. There is also every kind of wild and domestic animal; but best of all, perhaps, is a tiny gold shopping basket with a lid which opens to disclose yet qnother heart in pink coral.
