CHRISTCHURCH SEASON Bv Telegraph —Press Association CHRISTCHURCH. December 27. The broadsiding season opened at Monica Park on Saturday. Two Australian riders, Melhuish and Duggan, gave disappointing displays. In the Roecoe Handicap, open, one mile, Meluish was third in his heat. Duggan won his heat, but neither survived the semi-final. The experts’ points race, in which S. Rhodes (Christchurch) met the Australians, was won easily by Rhodes, Meluish being second. The time was 1.21 4-5. Another experts’ points’ race was won by Duggan, Dumpleton (Christchurch) being second and Meluish third. The time was 1.25 4-5. A third experts’ points race was won by Meluish. Duggan and Forbes did not finish.
